There is no need for much additional context: Covid-19 has an important impact on our lives. Also hospitals are looking on how to organize and reshape their patient flows in the post-corona era. Obviously setting up these flows in such a way that it is safe for all their patients. In many cases, that means reducing the amount of patients in waiting rooms and hall ways. The following paragraph and picture provide a concrete way on how to change the flow.
This example shows how to reshape the patient flow in a scenario where the hospital wants to collect patients in larger areas at the start of the hospital. Next, the hospital wants to be able to have a better view and management of how many people are in (smaller) waiting areas. With minimal changes to the configuration, you can actually change the complete patient flow in a very limited time frame.
So in this set up the ambition would be
- Patients have to wait in a centralized room at hospital entry ;
- Only when scarce capacity becomes available, patients can (automatically) get called to smaller, decentralized, classic waiting rooms.
How Partheas Flow can help out
In order to do so, the solution takes into account
- the current amount of patients in the waiting rooms, verified against the maximum that care managers have individually set for these rooms
- the management of the patient flow, making sure that there is an even flow of patients going through for each physician
Each time a space becomes available in the (decentralized) waiting room, automatically, the system will check in real-time which patient to call next from the centralized room. All of this while taking into account the functional requirements as set by the hospital.
The solution also provides a real-time overview for the hospital where they can visually verify current occupancy.
